Kozybayeva M.M. is one of the initiators of the creation of the Republican Association of Young Historians of Kazakhstan, a member of the National Congress of Historians of Kazakhstan.

Everyday life history, famine and political repression during the period of Stalinism, Eurasian integration, ethnic processes in Kazakhstan.

Books:
M.M. Kozybayeva is the author of about 70 scientific and methodological articles (including 6 articles in the Scopus and Thompson Reuters databases), 4 textbooks, co-author of 4 monographs. Under M.M. Kozybayeva’s leadership, a reference and methodological edition "Methodological foundations of ethnic tolerance" was prepared, as well as a training manual "Kazakhstan model of interethnic and interfaith consent", is a co-author of the textbook "Foundations of ethnopolitics and the formation of Kazakhstani identity", which are successfully used in the work of the department Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan at L.N. Gumilyov ENU. She was a member of the editorial groups for the publication of collections of archival documents dedicated to topical issues of Kazakhstani history. M.M. Kozybayeva supervises research grant projects and targeted programs for the study of the heritage of the Alash intelligentsia, famine and political repressions of the 1920s-1930s in Kazakhstan, and peasant everyday life in the post-war period.
